Handcrafted cabins
A handcrafted cabin is a log cabin built in the traditional fashion. At British Log Cabins we pride ourselves on our unique, specialist skills, producing beautiful buildings by hand from the raw material.
We construct handcrafted cabins as wood land shelters, log homes built to full UK building regulations, or outbuildings such as pool houses or luxury summerhouses. Working closely with our architect we can create stunning design features in our handcrafted cabins such as log stair cases and handrails, built in furniture and mezanine floor levels.
When building a hand crafted cabin we first source the timber, either by felling suitable trees on your land or sourcing from managed sustainable woodland in the UK.
We then strip the logs of bark and cambium, once the footings and base logs are laid each log is then precisely scribed to the log below. The log is cleaned out with a chainsaw and the joints finished with a sharp axe.
Due to the interlocking nature of the log cabin, the intricate notches used and that the natural shape and size of the logs is maintained the handcrafted cabin is a stunning natural structure that will last for hundreds of years.
