Having a log cabin built in your garden is a great way to create extra space, whether for a home office, a gym or a summerhouse without requiring planning permission. The legal requirements relating to size and positioning can be found in 'frequently asked questions'. We started to make smaller cabins out of our traditional round logs last year after deciding that we were in a great position to provide a better quality product compared with other small log cabins on the market in this country. If you do require planning permission for your garden cabin due to living in a listed building or if you would like a larger cabin that exceeds planning requirements then we are able to provide drawings to aid in the application.
To build a log home, whether as a new family home or as a holiday home, planning permission will be required. The cabin will also have to meet full UK building regulations. At British Log Cabins we can produce detailed drawings specific to log homes to aid in the application process. We are currently very interested in offering homes that comply with the sustainable code for building and encourage the inclusion of eco-friendly features in your log home.
